The following procedure describes the steps on how to install XPSWMM. For XPStorm, it follows a very similar process.

> ⚠️ Before proceeding with the installation, check the [Installation Guide](https://help-innovyze.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/xps/pages/19661597) page to ensure that you have all the necessary prerequisites. Also, check the [System Requirements](https://help-innovyze.atlassian.net/wiki/display/xps/System+Requirements) to see if your computer meets the specifications.

  


1. In the main screen, click **Next **to start the XPSWMM installation process.

2. Review the License Agreement and select the check box to accept the terms and activate the **Next** button. Click **Next**.

3. On the **Setup Type** screen, select the **Standalone** option. Click **Next**.

4. The shortcuts to the desktop and the start menu will be added by default. You can customize them by clearing the options. Click **Next**.

5. Browse to the folder where the program will be installed. Click **Next**.

6. Browse to the location of your configuration file, **xpswmm.xcf**. It is found on the USB or DVD when you purchased XPSWMM or attached to an email if you purchased an upgrade. Click **Next**.

7. Click **Install** to continue with the installation.

8. When the installation is completed, click **Finish.**

9. Start XPSWMM by clicking the icon on the desktop. If you run into issues, refer to [Troubleshooting Common Installation Errors](https://help-innovyze.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/xps/pages/19662648) for more information.
