For information about the licensing change, please refer to the [FAQ](https://help-innovyze.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/xps/pages/19661606) page. If you need access to legacy versions of XPSWMM/XPSTORM, you will need a dongle for versions 2020 and earlier.

To switch from a dongle to a Innovyze License, check the available license bundles in the list below. If your existing dongle license is included, send in your [request](https://innovyze.force.com/support/s/licensing-request) for a free upgrade. If your existing bundle is not included, please contact [Autodesk Support](https://www.autodesk.com/support/contact-support) for more information.

## Standalone Dongles

With the XPS product line (XPSWMM/XPStorm/XPRAFTS), the hardware dongle standalone license is for computers within the customer’s site. Allowing users to take locks offsite brings the risk of a loss resulting in a financial cost for the replacement if a hardware dongle needs replacement. Standalone dongles are registered for use to a specific registered office location and do not support Remote Log In or Remote Desktop connections.

## Floating Network Dongles

### Network Dongle Location

To optimize network function for your floating license, we recommend that the Network dongle and Network Sentinel Driver installation occur on an always-on, always-available computer within the network. The Network Server’s IP address should be known and remain unchanging.

### Optimum Network Configuration

The optimal setup for usability would be to install the client application on the user’s computer (remote client), which references the Network Dongle Computers IP address. A fully qualified domain name can be used depending on network IT infrastructure, if the need arises.

### Remote Desktop / Virtual Machines

The use of Windows Remote Desktop to connect to remote client desktops or Virtual Machine instances is possible. Depending on bandwidth, there is potential for a lag between the client machine and the corresponding remote or virtual desktop. The XPS experience is not optimized for such situations.
