InfoAsset Planner's inference tool is a set inference tools that you can apply in order to fill in missing data.

---

The Inference tool is located in the Toolbox tab of the Operation Center.  Right-click on > Macro (inline-media-image)

to create a new inference.  After giving your inference a unique ID and description, the Inference interface will open.

When an inference operation is selected, a description of the operation will appear as well as inference parameters unique to each type of inference operation.

You can edit, save, erase, clone, and run inferences from the Inference window.  An important note is that if a field is inferred, it <u>will not</u> be flagged as an inferred value.  Inferred values will look identical to imported or previously set values after an inference occurs, so users should be careful before running inference tools. When an inference is highlighted and parameters are set, you may click > Macro (inline-media-image)

to execute the inference.  When complete, InfoAsset Planner will provide a message once the inference is complete.

Below are descriptions for each type of inference:

- **PIPE: Infer Pipe Invert Elevation - **When run, this inference looks at each pipe's To/From Structures field.  If populated to a structure, InfoAsset Planner will then try to find that structure within on of the point facility types, such as Manhole.  InfoAsset Planner will then search for the field identified as the Invert Elevation and if populated, it will copy/paste this value to the pipe's corresponding Upstream or Downstream Invert field.
- **PIPE: Infer Pipe Length - **Like the descriptions states, this inference populates the InfoAsset Planner field specifies as the Pipe Length with the distance as calculated from the pipe's vertex coordinates.
- **PIPE: Verify Network Connectivity - **This inference tool has many parameter for users to adjust the inference operation.  In general, this inference is designed to fill the To/From Structure ID fields within the pipe feature class.  These fields are important when importing CCTV data so this can be an especially useful inference.  The most conservative way to run this inference is shown in the screenshot above.  In this case, the geometry cannot be changed and additional nodes cannot be created.  The tolerance used for the spatial search associated with this inference can be found within the **InfoAsset Planner** > **Settings** >** Tolerance** tab.

- **NODE: Extract Node Elevation Data - **Can be used to populate a node's elevation field from background raster data.  InfoAsset Planner conducts a spatial analysis and inference to infer the data from the raster to the node.
- **PIPE or NODE: Infer Attribute from Neighboring Pipes or Nodes - **This inference looks at connected features and infers attribute information based off its neighbors.  For example, if a pipe with no material is connected to a pipe with a material of CONC, the connected pipe will have CONC populated as it's material.
- **PIPE: Fix Pipe Direction - **This tool evaluates the drawn direction of each pipe and switches it if it does not follow the direction of From Structure ID to To Structure ID.
- **Fix Invalid IDs - **Automatically edits Facility IDs which are considered invalid.  Invalid IDs generally only include IDs in which the ID starts or ends with an apostrophe, i.e., 'Pipe-1'.
- **Calculate VA Signature (Vertical Asset Signature)** - Calculates a unique vertical asset signature for all assets and fills it into the facility or asset table.
- **Summarize Vertical Asset Info - **Fills in the Count of Asset, Sum of Condition Score, and Avg of Condition Score fields within the facility attribute tables with vertical assets.
