ILA requires a 64-bit version of Windows.

*Windows 2016 and 2019 are also compatible with the server components, such as network licenses.

> ⚠️ Windows 2012 R2 is reaching its end of life on October 10, 2023, in preparation for this Thales will be switching off support for Windows 2012 R2 on May 02, 2024, as it uses cipher suites that are no longer deemed secure. Therefore, Innovyze License Administrator will no longer be able to support Windows 2012 R2 either. We suggest urgently upgrading any Windows 2012 R2 servers to avoid losing access to Innovyze licenses when the server cannot communicate with the backend systems.

For both fixed and floating licenses,  authentication of license requests between the machine and Innovyze's cloud licensing systems is required using TLS1.2, meaning a connection to the internet is necessary. For fixed licenses, the machine doing this communication is the client where our software is installed; for floating licenses, the communication is the license server where the licenses have been associated. For external communications between the installed systems and Innovyze, the machine requires access to the *.sentinelcloud.com domain.

Floating licenses also require port **5093** to be open using the UDP protocol for inbound** **traffic on the license server. This is needed for internal communications between client machines and the server. See [Creating an Inbound Port rule for RMS Service](https://help-innovyze.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ILA/pages/11567171).

Where license requests through a proxy server are required, see [Using a Proxy Server](https://help-innovyze.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ILA/Using+a+Proxy+Server) for details on how this can be configured.

> ⚠️ To apply and use a fixed license, the Windows feature **Windows Sandbox** must be disabled** **on the local machine. This Windows feature causes conflicts with the licensing services, and it must be switched off in order to use fixed licenses.

> ℹ️ In order to install the software license successfully the date and time on the local machine must be within 15 minutes of the date and time on the web-based entitlement management system. The ILA will attempt to verify the local date and time with a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. ([time.windows.com](http://time.windows.com) or [time.google.com](http://time.google.com)) using the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) on port 123. Where a custom NTP server definition is required for local date and time verification, see Silent Installing the Innovyze License Administrator for details on how this can be configured.
