A pipe conveys water from one node to another.

How do I...

Create a Pipe?

Click on the InfoWater Pro Ribbon in the Edit Group using the  Insert Command dropbox  .

When the Insert Pipe command is the active command it will be highlighted in Blue as shown:

Select the Insert Pipe icon  from the  Insert Command dropbox

Once the command is initiated, select the From Node for the new pipe by clicking on the appropriate node and begin digitizing the pipe.  Intermediate shape-defining vertices can be placed by clicking the mouse in any location.  Configure the pipe accordingly and double-click the mouse to specify the To Node to end the digitization process. Suggest a new ID and/or a description on the Pipe Identification dialog box and click on the OK button to accept the ID and create the new Pipe. The Pipe should visually appear at the specified location.

The pipe being added must be snapped to an existing node (junction, tank, reservoir, pump or valve).  Either create the node prior to the pipe creation process and/or use the Digitize Network icon  from the  Insert Command dropbox  to create a pipe and node network "on the fly".  Once digitized, the user is able to add relevant modeling data in the Model Explorer - Attribute Tab window or via the DB Editor.

When the Redraw Pipe command is active the first step is to select the pipe to be redrawn.  The selected pipe to be redrawn will then change to the selected element color in cyan. Once selected, Left Click on the mouse to select the From Node for the pipe by clicking on the appropriate node and begin digitizing the pipe.  Intermediate shape-defining vertices can be placed by clicking the mouse in any location.  Configure the pipe accordingly and double-click the mouse to specify the To Node to end the digitization process.

If a different pipe changes to the selected element color (cyan) when you attempt to select the From Node, the selected pipe is now the active pipe that will get redrawn. If this occurs just re-select the desired pipe to so that it is in the selection color and repeat the process. the one you want to draw and continue

When the Edit Vertex command is active the first step is to select the pipe to edit its vertices. The selected pipe to be edited will then change to the selected element color in cyan and the current pipe vertices will be shown with this symbol . If one of the existing vertices is selected or you click anywhere on the selected pipe it will insert a new vertex and the vertex symbol will change to this symbol  To move the active Vertex, Left click on the mouse on the active vertex and hold the left click down. Edit the Data for a Group of Pipes?

Group edits can be made by either creating a domain or by creating a selection.

Using the Domain Manager - Create a domain selecting the specific Pipes that you want to edit. Refer to the section on Domain Manager for details on the domain creation process. Once the domain has been created, choose the InfoWater Pro Ribbon in the Edit Group using the  DB Editor icon . Depending on the data you want to edit choose the appropriate table type from among the different database tables. Choose as the Data Scope and click on OK.

Using the User Selection - Select choose the InfoWater Pro Ribbon in the Edit Group using the  DB Editor icon .  Depending on the data you want to edit choose the appropriate table type from among the different database tables. This places the software in User Selection Mode.  In InfoWater Pro, the Selected elements will be in a cyan color.  Once all of the desired Pipes are selected, right click and choose Enter to access the DB Tables for the selected Pipes.

The Pipe that is deleted is saved in the InfoWater recycle bin and can be recalled from the database using the Model Explorer - Command Center Tab under Utilities -> Recall Pipe command. However, if Auto Database Packing  is checked (Operation Settings tab in the Preferences settings ), then any element deleted is permanently deleted from the database and cannot be recalled. If the Auto Database packing is unchecked (recommended) then deleted elements can be recalled until the Pack and then Clean commands (found in the Model Explorer - Command Center Tab under Utilities  Database menu list) are completed which removes deleted element ID's from the database.

Recall a Deleted Pipe?

To recall a deleted Pipe, go to Model Explorer - Command Center Tab under Utilities -> Recall and select the Pipe command. In order to perform the recall, the user must know the ID of the Pipe that was deleted. You may choose the Show Deleted Pipe command to obtain a list of Pipes deleted from the InfoWater project but saved in the InfoWater recycle bin. Deleted elements can be recalled until the Pack and then Clean commands (found in the Model Explorer - Command Center Tab under Utilities  Database menu list) are completed which removes deleted element ID's from the database permanently.
