Customer/meter billing data (each with a distinct x and y coordinates) provide an accurate measure of localized demands imposed on the water distribution system. InfoWater Pro Allocator uses GIS technology to geocode consumption data to designated junction nodes. The program identifies and sums up demands imposed by meters on each of the junction nodes associated to demand (service) area polygons.
Demand area polygons can either be digitized within InfoWater Pro Allocator or imported as a shapefile from a third-party GIS software package. Demand area polygons that are assigned to a specific junction node will have a unique identifier for which demands are assigned. After a spatial intersection, the program sums the consumption of the total number of meters contained within that junction's demand area polygon and assigns that demand to the hydraulic model demand database.
