Affected Area Reports are a summary of model elements affected by each of all selected valves. Closed Area is defined as those model elements removed from an assessment simulation for a given valve, in order to isolate that valve from the assessment simulation. The model elements in Closed Area are also called Closed Elements. Disconnected Area is defined as those model elements disconnected from the network as a consequence of the removal of Closed Elements in an assessment simulation. The model elements in Disconnected Area are called Disconnected Elements. The CAM module reports whether an assessment run has disconnection or not, and then removes those Disconnected Elements in order for the assessment simulation to generate outputs for hydraulic assessment. Closed Area exists for each assessment simulation, while Disconnected Area exists only if an assessment simulation encounters network disconnection. Combined Area is the sum of Closed Area and Disconnected Area. Note that the junction demands in both Closed Area and Disconnected Area are taken away from the assessment simulation.

Closed Area

Affected Area Reports - Closed Area Report

Affected Area Reports show a table with a number of parameters that describe the model elements in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for each assessment valve. The table for Disconnected Area is empty for a particular assessment valve if its corresponding simulation does not encounter network disconnection.  

  • Assessment ID - ID for an individual assessment valve.

  • Connection ID - Displays Upstream or Downstream connection.

  • Junction Count - The total number of affected junctions in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area.

  • Storage Count - The total number of affected tanks and reservoirs in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve.

  • Pipe Count - The total number of affected pipes in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve.

  • Pump Valve Count - The total number of affected pumps and valves in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve.

  • Loss Demand - The total demand loss in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve. Units for demand are defined in the Simulation Options.

  • Total Pipe Length - The total pipe length in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve. Units for length are defined in the Simulation Options.

  • Min. Pipe Diameter - The minimum pipe diameter in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve. Units for diameter are defined in the Simulation Options.

  • Max. Pipe Diameter - The maximum pipe diameter in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve. Units for diameter are defined in the Simulation Options.

  • Avg. Pipe Diameter - The average pipe diameter in Closed Area, Disconnected Area, or Combined Area for a given assessment valve. Units for diameter are defined in the InfoWater Simulation Options.

The table for Disconnected Area is empty for a particular assessment valve if its corresponding simulation does not encounter network disconnection.
