Valve Criticality Analysis identifies which system valves most crucially affect the scale of impact of any potential water distribution system failures. The valve criticality uses pounded (isolated) areas to identify the amount of pipes, laterals, meters, demands, or population affected by the failure of a valve.  This analysis is only available in the Water network.

To open the Valve Criticality tool, select Pressurized Main from the drop-down menu at the top of the Analysis tab in the Operation Center, then select Tools > Valve Criticality > Calculate Valve Criticality.

To determine valve criticality, use the following steps:

Step 1: Establish Pounded Areas

Step 2: Calculate Values in Each Pounded Area

Step 3: Generating Valve Criticality Analysis Results
